About Danli, Honduras

Danlí, located in the El Paraíso department of southeastern Honduras, is a significant urban center near the Nicaraguan border. As of 2023, the municipality's population is estimated at approximately 233,789, with around 94,344 residents living in urban areas . The city's economy is primarily driven by agriculture, notably the cultivation of corn and tobacco, as well as commerce and manufacturing . Despite its economic activities, Danlí faces challenges related to poverty, particularly in rural areas and among vulnerable communities. Health issues are a pressing concern in Danlí. The city has experienced a significant influx of migrants, leading to overcrowded and unsanitary living conditions. Creating a necessity to treat numerous cases of acute diarrheal diseases, respiratory infections, skin conditions, and trauma among migrants, especially children . Additionally, the 2024 dengue outbreak in Honduras has affected Danlí, with the national government declaring an epidemiological emergency due to a sharp increase in cases. These health challenges are compounded by limited access to clean water and adequate healthcare services, underscoring the need for improved infrastructure and medical support in the region.

Meet The Doctor

Medical Experience: I obtained my degree as a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in 1996, and in 2005, I earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the Autonomous University of Managua, Nicaragua.

Place of Origin: I was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Medical Specialty: I do not currently hold a medical specialty.

About Me:
I first graduated as an elementary school teacher, but from a young age, I dreamed of becoming a doctor. I pursued my medical studies at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) and have been dedicated to both medicine and teaching ever since.
I am married, the mother of three children, and the proud grandmother of two granddaughters. Currently, I am blessed to serve at Clínica Salud Total in Danlí, a project that inspires me to continue helping others through my profession.
